How Islamic Education and Faith Initiative (IEFI) Magod phase 2 is Building Stronger Communities Through Compassion and Service

Assalāmu ‘Alaikum Warahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh.

At the Islamic Education and Faith Initiative (IEFI) Magodo Phase 2, we believe that caring for others is one of the highest expressions of faith. Guided by the teachings of the Qur’an and the Sunnah, our Food Bank Scheme was established to ensure that vulnerable families are supported with dignity, compassion, and the reassuring knowledge that their community stands beside them in times of need.

What began as a response to the economic challenges experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic has, by the grace of Allah (SWT), grown into a sustained community welfare programme. Working closely with Central Mosques, community leaders, volunteers, and generous supporters, IEFI continues to provide food assistance to families across several Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State on a monthly basis.

Over the years, this collective effort has enabled us to reach well over a thousand families, with recent distributions extending our support to communities in Omole Phase II Community Mosque, Ojodu LCDA, and Onigbongbo LCDA. While we are grateful for what Allah has enabled us to accomplish, we remain mindful that many more families continue to require assistance.

Serving Communities, One Family at a Time

Our Food Bank has reached communities including:

  • Ikosi-Isheri LCDA (Central Mosques)
  • Agboyi-Ketu LCDA
  • Bariga Axis
  • Ikorodu Zones 1 & 2
  • Agege Central
  • Orile-Agege
  • Shomolu Axis
  • Omole Phase II Community Mosque
  • Ojodu LCDA
  • Onigbongbo LCDA

Each distribution is carefully coordinated through mosque leadership and community representatives to ensure that assistance reaches deserving families with fairness, transparency, and respect.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.”

The Journey Continues

The need for community support continues to grow as many families face increasing economic pressures. We therefore see every successful outreach not as the end of a project, but as an encouragement to reach even further.

By the permission of Allah (SWT), our vision is to expand this initiative to more communities, strengthen our partnerships with mosques and organizations, and build a sustainable welfare programme that responds to needs throughout the year.

How You Can Make a Difference

Volunteer

Join our team during food collection, packaging, logistics, community outreach, and distribution exercises. Your time and skills can make a lasting difference.

Donate Food Items

Contribute staple food items such as rice, beans, garri, semovita, vegetable oil, noodles, pasta, seasonings, or other non-perishable essentials to help us prepare food packages for vulnerable households.

Give Financially

Financial contributions allow us to purchase food in bulk, respond quickly to urgent needs, and extend our reach to more communities throughout the year.

 

Become an Advocate

Sometimes the greatest contribution is helping others discover the opportunity to give. Share our mission within your family, workplace, mosque, and social networks so that together we can inspire more people to serve.

Allah (SWT) says:

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed that grows seven ears; in every ear are a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills.” (Qur’an 2:261)
